Boland survive Super Over, Warriors cruise

Boland needed a Super Over to settle a tense contest in Paarl after both teams finished their 20 overs on 164. The hosts prevailed with 15/1 in the decider against Eastern Storm’s 11/0.

Gavin Kaplan led Boland’s batting effort with an unbeaten 74 off 50 balls, hitting eight fours and a six. Blayde Capell contributed 49 from 37 deliveries as the hosts posted 164/4 after being sent in.

Lehan Botha added 20 off 14 balls and Ferisco Adams finished unbeaten on 16. Tumelo Simelane was particularly economical for Eastern Storm, conceding just 17 runs from his four overs.

Eastern Storm matched Boland’s total, finishing on 164/5 to force the extra over, but could not turn their challenge into victory.

At St George’s Park, the Warriors enjoyed a more comfortable evening, restricting Northern Cape Heat to 83/9 before reaching 88/3 in 11 overs to win by seven wickets.

Boast did the early damage, removing Liam Doherty, Nonelela Yikha and Kyle Jacobs as the visitors slumped to 20/4. He finished with 3-15 from four overs, while Beuran Hendricks took 2-20.

Gerhardus Maree’s 24 was the Heat’s highest score. Wesley Bedja conceded just 11 runs from four overs and claimed a wicket, with Patrick Kruger and Thomas Kaber also taking one apiece.

Jordan Hermann and Sibonelo Makhanya put on 53 for the opening wicket to give the Warriors control of the chase. Hermann made 47 off 29 balls, while JP King finished unbeaten on 24 from 18 as the hosts won with 54 balls remaining.
