Here's when Samsung's Android XR glasses finally go up for pre-order
Samsung showed off its first Android XR glasses at its Galaxy Unpacked event back in July, and a recent report claimed they would go on sale in mid-December. Now we know when you'll be able to pre-order them, and the news doesn't come from Samsung or Google, but from Warby Parker, which designed some of the frames.
In its third-quarter results today, Dave Gilboa, Warby Parker's Co-Founder and Co-CEO, said that the company will begin accepting pre-orders for its first Intelligent Eyewear collection on November 12. On the earnings call, the company added that it will unveil the full collection, including pricing, on the same day, and that initial customer deliveries will start in mid-December, so that earlier report was right on the money.
If you'd rather try the glasses before you buy them, demos will be available in 65 Warby Parker stores in the US starting next week, expanding to all of its more than 360 locations the week after, and you can already schedule one on the company's website.
In case you need a refresher, the Intelligent Eyewear glasses run Android XR with Gemini, and the hardware is made by Samsung with the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset at the helm. They have no display, but they do come with a camera, microphones, and speakers, and you can control them with your voice or through the touch-sensitive areas on the sides.
