Mnisi came under scrutiny before the Madlanga Commission for allegedly sharing confidential tender information with former South African Police Service (SAPS) Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.
Mnisi was seen leaving Tshwane House with SARS officials on Thursday morning.
This, after they executed search warrants for his office and home.
Mnisi was briefly placed on precautionary suspension - with pay - earlier this year for alleged misconduct.
This followed claims of alleged tender fraud with Nkosi over a multimillion-rand security contract.
Separately, he's been accused of having unexplained wealth, including a fleet of luxury vehicles and multimillion-rand properties, which don’t align with his over R100,000 monthly salary.
At the time, Mnisi said the assets were acquired as part of his divorce proceedings.
The 36-year-old was appointed as Tshwane CFO in 2023.
