South Africa Announce Squad for Bangladesh Test Series
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Tony de Zorzi, Zubayr Hamza, and Anrich Nortje have returned to the squad after recovering from injuries.
However, pacer Lungi Ngidi missed out on selection as he continues his rehabilitation process.
South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad stated that his side aims to carry forward the momentum from their hard-fought performance against Australia into the Bangladesh series.
With the pitches in the Highveld region traditionally offering extra pace and bounce, the Proteas are placing special emphasis on strengthening their pace options.
Nevertheless, Conrad noted that spinners have also found success on recent Wanderers surfaces.
The first Test of the series will get underway at The Wanderers in Johannesburg on November 15. The second and final Test will commence on November 23 in Centurion.
South Africa Test Squad:
Temba Bavuma (C), Marques Ackerman, Matthew Breetzke, Corbin Bosch, Tony de Zorzi, Simon Harmer, Zubayr Hamza, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Anrich Nortje, Dane Paterson, Kagiso Rabada, and Ryan Rickelton.
Notably, the two teams last met in a Test series on South African soil in 2022, where the hosts swept Bangladesh 2-0.
The Proteas enter this series with the intent to repeat that dominance on home turf.
